About Us

  • Our History:  Police Legal Sciences, Inc. (PLS) was founded in 1999 by Gerald N. Partridge, JD. Mr. Partridge has had close ties to the law enforcement community for over 35 years as a prosecuting attorney, author, and lecturer. He believes deeply that the public trust is best served by law enforcement personnel who are properly trained, professional, and conversant with the law. Seeing a need to provide cost-effective, comprehensive training he started PLS and began providing state-specific legal update training to law enforcement officers in Missouri and Iowa. This training is sponsored by the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy (CMPA) and is POST certified in the State of Missouri. At the request of several clients, PLS began offering lessons for dispatchers in 2008. The company continues to provide PLS Legal Update training in Missouri and Iowa. PLS Dispatch Pro is now being used by call centers in 39 states and in Canada.

  • Our Mission:  Our mission is to help public safety professionals do their best when it matters most.

  • Our Beliefs and Values:

    • To be a 911 dispatcher, a person must possess strength of character and critical interpersonal skills.

    • Dispatching 911 calls requires multi-tasking and processing information under pressure at a high-rate of speed.

    • For every life-threatening emergency where a 911 call is made, the dispatcher is the lifeline.

    • 911 calls generate high-stress levels, and dispatchers pay an emotional price for each high-stakes call they handle.

    • With each 911 call they handle, dispatchers directly impact the quality of life in the communities they serve.

    • With each call a dispatcher assumes the role of ambassador for the community’s entire public safety system.

    • Because callers, responding public safety personnel, supervisors, elected officials, the media, and the public have the capacity to review multiple times and in minute detail exactly how any given call was handled, dispatching has become a heavily scrutinized profession.
